Strategic Alliances
Numonyx focuses on strengthening customer relationships. To ensure the best memory solutions possible, we have created partnerships with other leaders in the memory industry.

Standards Bodies
Standards bodies provide the opportunity for Numonyx to demonstrate and share our memory expertise with other semiconductor companies. Numonyx representatives have played a key role in driving development standards for NOR and NAND flash memories. As a technology leader, Numonyx then focuses on delivering products based on these standards.

Numonyx has joined the following industry standards bodies:

  • JEDEC
JEDEC is the leading developer of standards for the solid-state industry. Almost 3,300 participants appointed by some 295 companies work together in 50 JEDEC committees to meet the needs of every segment of the industry, manufacturers and consumers alike. The publications and standards that they generate are accepted throughout the world. All JEDEC standards are available online, at no charge.
  • ONFI
Open NAND Flash Interface (ONFI) is a working group aimed at developing a standardized NAND flash interface to allow interoperability among NAND devices. This standard will simplify integration of NAND flash memory components into consumer electronic devices, computing platforms and industrial systems. The ONFI Working Group is formed by some 71 member companies focused on the continual evolution of the specifications and on the acceleration of the time-to-market for NAND flash-based applications. ONFI entered into a collaborative agreement with JEDEC with the intent to define a NAND standard for use in current and next-generation systems.

Joint R&D Programs
Numonyx is also an active member in collaborative European research programs, such as ENIAC (European Nanoelectronics Initiative Advisory Council) and CATRENE (Cluster for Application and Technology Research in Europe on NanoElectronics).

  • ENIAC
ENIAC is the European Technology Platform that is set up to support all research activities in Nanoelectronics. Numonyx has become a corporate member of AENEAS, the non-profit association that supports ENIAC activities, and participates in the Support Group.
  • CATRENE
CATRENE is the newly formed pan-European program, under the EUREKA framework, for advanced co-operative research and development in microelectronics technology and its applications. Numonyx is member of the Steering Group Technology of CATRENE.

Additionally, Numonyx cooperates with many universities around the world, including those in Europe, the US, and major research institutions, such as CEA-LETI, IMEC and Fraunhofer IZM. Especially fruitful in Italy is the cooperation with CNR-MDM, a research institute on Nanoelectronics, belonging to the Italian Research Council, which is hosted inside the Numonyx premises in Agrate Brianza, Milan.

Numonyx is also a partner in several European cooperative R&D projects, within the Sixth and Seventh FrameWork Programmes of the European Commission. Among them, for the projects Gossamer and Mocha, Numonyx has the role of coordinator.
